Toyota Motor Corp. is selling off about 5.5 million vehicles a year through 2021, as the Japanese automaker tries to turn around a slowing economy.
The company says its net sales in 2021 are expected to be around 5 million cars and trucks.
The automaker said it sold about 566,000 vehicles in 2021.
The company said in a filing Tuesday that it sold more than a million vehicles in the first half of the year, with about 200,000 sold in the second half.
It expects to sell more than 600,000 in 2021, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The automaker is already selling about 10 million cars in 2021 and expects to continue to do so.
Toyota’s shares rose more than 2% in Tokyo to 1,072 yen (about $19.67) at 8:58 a.m. ET.
