Honda’s Yugos are one of the most anticipated products of the year.
The Japanese automaker unveiled its new sporty and compact SUV at CES on Thursday, and it’s a big step forward for the company’s long-awaited all-electric car.
Unlike other electric vehicles, Honda’s electric SUV has a top speed of 160 mph (240 kph), an EPA-rated range of over 300 miles (480 kilometers), and a range-to-weight ratio of about 20-to1.
Honda’s YUGO will be available in three models: the entry-level SUV, a mid-size sedan, and a large SUV.
A first for Honda, the all-new YUGOs have the latest styling and performance features, including a carbon fiber roof, heated front seats, and rear seats that fold flat for easy storage.
The rear seats are heated to 70 degrees Fahrenheit (24 Celsius) to help reduce seat-to.
Seat-to temperatures are also rated to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
In terms of battery capacity, the company said it’s delivering 4.5 kWh of lithium-ion battery pack with an estimated total range of 310 miles (440 kilometers).
The YUGOS will go on sale in the United States and Canada in late 2016, with a price tag starting at $37,500.
