A car that is still in its original condition is one that can be driven for years without a break.
A car with new parts, however, is an expensive luxury that should be replaced every few years, according to experts.
AutoNation estimates that it costs an average of $2,000 to replace a car that’s been in service for 30 years, and the cost can increase exponentially for vehicles with many years of service.
AutoNation estimates the average car will need to be replaced by 2020.
“You can be sure your car will be in a better state than you are,” said Todd D. Hall, director of research for the AutoNation Vehicle Inventory Center.
“You will probably have a new engine, you will probably be able to get it repaired, you’ll probably have the warranty extended and it will have a fresh new coat of paint.
All that’s needed is a little more work.”
