With its first-generation car in the works, Tesla announced a new concept for its “Sunbeam” line of automobiles on Wednesday.
According to Tesla, the new model will be called the “Sunstone,” and it will feature an “all-electric driving experience.”
The concept car was unveiled at a Tesla press event on Wednesday, and it has been in the development phase for the past three years.
It’s a vehicle that, at the moment, can only be driven on solar power, but the company hopes that this will change in the future.
Sunbeam will use Tesla’s battery technology, as well as the company’s proprietary technology, for the new vehicle.
The Sunstone’s electric drivetrain is said to have a combined range of up to 2,000 miles.
It is also said to be capable of achieving 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds and an electric-only city drive of 20 miles per hour.
The new vehicle will be based on the “GigaSolar” platform, which has been used by Tesla to build a series of small, solar-powered cars, like the Tesla Model S, Tesla Model X, and Tesla Model 3.
Tesla says that the new Sunstone will be a “true next-generation vehicle,” as it will be able to drive on solar energy in both sunny and cloudy conditions.
The Sunstone is described as a “first-generation solar car” that will be designed to be a family vehicle that can be used in urban areas.
The company has previously announced plans to build at least 10 more vehicles that will incorporate solar panels into the roof of the vehicle.
In 2017, the company announced plans for a fully solar-fuelled Tesla Model III that will feature a rooftop solar array.
